58/365 (February 27th, 2009)

Stefan rules.
I went to see him play three nights in a row, and tonight was the only night I could actually stick around to see him. I'm very happy I didn't miss it because it was AWESOME and I love his music very, very much.
Check it out, because you will love it too. I promise.

57/365 (February 26th, 2009)

Amour Amour.
I was a zombie this night, so I peaced after they played, but apparently Kirk played a song for me, and Jesse played two Blurt songs for the last time ever.
Glad I left early....

56/365 (February 25th, 2009)

Yesterday, Phog Lounge was pronounced BEST MUSIC VENUE IN CANADA!
Isn't that exciting? Something Windsor should be proud of.

52/365 (February 21st, 2009)

This was taken very early this morning/late last night. They closed off with Upsides of Effort.
I Pulled John up on stage, and everyone else seemed to follow.
Jesse stopped playing, and it was just Joey and Anthony, until they stopped and everyone just sang and hugged and badlfkadksfhakdjscna.
This is at the VERY end of their set.

As sad as I am, I am SO SO SO proud of these guys. They've been working like crazy the last couple years, and I love them for everything they've done for me.

Also, Leah and Leah's mom, thank you very much for all the kind words :)

As soon as I'm done editing the rest of the photos, I'll be sure to post them.
For now here are some of The Gutter Hearts and Guilt Trip's sets!

51/365 (February 20th, 2009)

Blurt at the beginning of the their set. The focus is fucked for this photo, and is awesome for the photos where they're looking away, etc.

Whatever. Best show ever. Everyone was sweating, crying, screaming, singing, dancing, diving, etc. It was crazy.
300 people or so.

Guilt Trip's reunion set was really awesome. They played Lee Majors and everyone was up on stage singing along.

Blurt opened up with Carl Winslow and Crustina, and I almost started crying then, but it wasn't until Ryan Doug when I looked over at Amy and Shane that it really hit me. They played all the oldies as well.

At the first show I went to I bought a copy of 2611. I drove around listening to it all day and then it DIED.
IT JUST DIED! It won't work in anything else either.
The first blurt CD I bought at my first blurt show died the same day they did.
?!?!

50/365 (February 19th, 2009)

Fun night at Phog with Derek who's in town from Montreal for a couple days. Did our traditional Basil Court meal + pictionary at Phog. Joined by Katie, Joe and Sonia too!

Speaking of Phog. I did a group project/interview with Tom Lucier, owner of Phog Lounge, and collaborated on how his blog is intertwined with the Windsor Blogging community. Check it.

The Talk 20 at artcite tonight was amazing.
I'm waiting on some video clips, but I'm going to blog about it early tomorrow on the Broken City Lab blog. Be sure to keep an eye out, or maybe add them to your RSS feeds :)
For a SUPER brief overview because I am way too tired to think, there were six speakers (Justin of BCL being one of them) talking about their ideas on how to improve our city.
Super interesting and super inspiring.

Tomorrow (today now, I guess) is a very sad day for the Windsor punk scene.
Longest running band and probably the most loved, Blurt are calling it quits.

Come out and help Blurt die.

:-(

This pretty much sums up outlook on music:

49/365 (February 18th, 2009)

Taken on Huron Church, near the U, after Kate and I finished up our edition of Genesis on CJAM. We talked about the reclamation and revival of Burlesque.
Click here to listen, you just have to start it half way through, OR listen to the whole thing because Benny Dreadful's Borderland News is awesome.

48/365 (February 17th, 2009)

Blurt co-hosted "The Best Show Ever" tonight on CJAM with Joe Mcgregor. I stopped by along with Nate, Monica and Jim. It was a party in the studio. You should listen to the achieved version of the show.

I went a bit cancon crazy. Not even intentionally.
Awesome.

Everyone should check out my friend Jason's blog.
It's the best.
He talks about punk stuff, and about being the best vegan ever.
He also throws in obligatory Simpsons screen caps that add to the hilarity.

47/365 (February 16th, 2009)

Tonight, Mat and I randomly decided to hangout. We decided to hit up Phog Lounge where there just happened to be an open mic happening.
It was fun! I'm glad we decided to hangout tonight.
We celebrated a belated valentines day. I even got him (dead)flowers.
We're starting a band called Crustathew, and it's going to be chronicling how our souls telepathically met before our bodies did.

Earlier on, Nicole and I hosted a very special free-for-all edition of Milk and Vodka on Cjam!
You can check out the setlist on my other blog.
I'm hosting Steel Belted Radio for Dale Jacobs tomorrow from 5-6, so tune in! Yeeeehaaaw.

46/365 (February 15th, 2009)

I went to see Marty Gervais box for charity today at Riverside High School. It was fun, but I hated watching him fight, because I was so afraid he was going to get hurt!
I watched Silence of the Lambs with my cousin tonight. I'm really tired right now, and am trying to make a setlist for tomorrow's Milk and Vodka!
Listen! 5-6 pm.

MARTY WINS!

45/365 (February 14th, 2009)

I jumped off a ladder.

WAYFARER
Jason!
Tie Breaker

DON'T WORRY SHANE! Blurt opened with Shane's song and he jumped off the balcony.
Then they played my song!

If this doesn't look like the most fun ever to you, something is wrong.
